Dr. Chris Anthony, MD is a fellowship-trained hip preservation specialist and serves as Director of Hip Preservation as well as a joint preservation, resurfacing and replacement surgeon at Penn Orthopaedics. Dr. Anthony specializes in hip preservation and hip resurfacing, as well as partial and total replacement surgery for the hip and knee – offering a variety of treatment options to patients based on their activity level and joint health. Dr. Anthony's comprehensive approach to the hip focusses on treatments that will allow patients to stay highly active and preserve their natural hip. Additionally, he offers hip resurfacing, a form of hip replacement for highly active patients. Finally, he offers anterior approach total hip arthroplasty and revision arthroplasty. Dr. Anthony enjoys treating athletes of all ages and is a former Division 1 and professional athlete. After his athletic career, he choose to dedicate himself to orthopaedics to help individuals return to a range of highly active lifestyles. Dr. Anthony earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine, and went on to complete his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Iowa, followed by a fellowship in joint preservation, resurfacing and replacement at Washington University. During his fellowship, he also served as an attending orthopaedic surgeon at Barnes Jewish Hospital and Veterans Administration Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Anthony sees patients at Penn Medicine Radnor and Pennsylvania Hospital.
